Considering the price and the quality, is it better to buy a new and cheaper piano or a used professional piano?

Useful life of a piano can be up to sixty years or even more, before certain internal parts need to be changed, which means that a piano that is only a few years old, is still a new piano. As far as the price is concerned, with the money you would spend for an economy class instrument (Made in Indonesia or in China) bought in Japan, you can buy a used professional piano “Made in Japan” which is going to be a high-quality instrument and a good investment for the years to come.

My son is taking piano lessons. What would be better and cheaper – to buy him a digital or a classical piano?

When it comes to a choice whether to buy an electric or a classical piano, money is usually a great factor. But what is better? If someone decides to study piano, s/he will need a classical instrument very soon. With a classical piano the mechanics, dynamics and physics of motion allow infinite reproduction of various colours of the sounds. With a digital piano, however, the sounds are duplicated and reproduced. It is practically impossible to develop sensitivity on a digital piano, which means that a great deal of the teacher’s effort and of the student’s knowledge is wasted. In addition, if you want to sell an electric piano, even if it was not used much, you will lose quite a lot of money, due to the devaluation of an instrument. And after that you will spend even more money to buy a new classical piano. Before you decide which type of piano is the most appropriate, you need to carefully think about its purpose – to study or to use it as a hobby.

What guarantees are given to the customers? What can I do if I’m not satisfied?

High level of experience and competence of our technical staff enable us to offer to our customers carefully selected pianos with a TEN YEAR guarantee. If you buy a piano with a Japan Piano Center certificate and you are not satisfied with it, you can bring it back and we will return the money. We offer a trial period, so that you can test the piano and if you are not fully satisfied, you can withdraw from the purchase.

Is the first tuning of the piano included in the price? What maintenance is required and what are its annual costs?

Our technician will pay a visit to you thirty days after the purchase and will again tune and intonate your piano, free of charge. Annual maintenance of our pianos costs about 70 EUR. All the necessary repairs that are subject to the guarantee are free and are included in the price. A good piano only needs tuning once a year, whereas a piano of lower quality requires more frequent maintenance.
